100 SHADES OF GREEN

At Mennonite Creation Care Network, we believe congregations play a key role in the communal endeavor of living in right relationship with the earth. We see care of creation as central to the Christian gospel.

That’s why our goal for 2010 is to:

  • identify 100 congregations actively engaged in the care of creation
  • identify a creation care advocate in each of those congregations and
  • provide a directory with profiles of these congregations on our web site.

Q: What does it mean to be “actively engaged in the care of creation?”

A: At minimum, it means a group at your congregation has taken the time to work through MCCN’s Green Congregation Stewardship score sheet and think about what your congregation does well and what you might wish to work on.

After you have worked through the Green Congregation Scoresheet, please use this form to tell us about your congregation and its unique shade of green.

MCCN LIAISON & CREATION CARE ADVOCATE

This person serves as a link between MCCN and the congregation, sharing information from MCCN with the congregation and encouraging attention to creation care. Our model is similar to Mennonite Mutual Aid’s model of having an MMA advocate within each congregation. If your church has a creation care committee, the chair of that committee is a logical choice.

ABOUT YOUR CONGREGATION

Please provide a two-sentence description of the geographical setting of the congregation, its size, its missional focus, typical occupations or other aspects of your congregational life
