Dean Lehrke of Altmont, Kans., is an MCCN member who lives off the grid in a straw bale house with a composting toilet and a “rocket heater.” He also has expertise in permaculture and other aspects of low-tech lifestyles. He has learned some of his strategies from the Amish.

“We must begin this revolution of peace in our own homes, our own back yards, in our own resources, in our own lives and in our own hearts and minds,” Dean says. He is inspired by the vision of the peaceable kingdom and wants to be part of a second reformation where people live simply and restore the earth.

Dean would love to share what he knows with others. He would like to start an Anabaptist permaculture school where people can learn simple strategies that will reduce their impact on the earth. To learn more, email dampfwagen@hotmail.com
